Should I Volunteer? How Much?

Yes and yes.

Volunteer work is a significant reason why our students are so successful. Volunteerism provides meaningful proof that you are a leader and that you care about your community. Both of these traits are integral to a scholarship committee’s decision-making process.

It’s not really about the length that you have been volunteering for, it’s about the impact that you are making.

Volunteer and engage in activities that interest you. It will be apparent if you have simply logged hours. Do some personal reflection and choose activities that represent a personal conviction or interest. You can also find many volunteer opportunities that relate to your future field of study, which looks great on your application or resume.
